Westminster City Council has granted planning permission for the project to go forward.

An application to Westminster City Council has now been made for planning permission for the Memorial to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, by Donald Insall Associates and Donald Buttress.

Donald Buttress and Donald Insall Associates, together with sculptors Philip Jackson and Paul Day, have been selected to work in collaboration on the final design for the memorial to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

Five designers have now been shortlisted for the project to design a national memorial to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

The deadline for Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother's Memorial has resulted in a surge of interest from designers and sculptors. Ideas and proposals have come from across the world, from Australia, Japan, Italy, Spain France and the USA.

A new monument to Queen Elizabeth will be sited off The Mall, in London, near the existing statue of King George VI, husband of Queen Elizabeth and father of the present Queen. Designers, architects and artists throughout the UK, Commonwealth and worldwide are invited to submit expressions of interest by 31st January for an appropriate memorial.
